Many of you, I know, have accounts on Facebook and recently I've read quite a few articles about how folks are using Facebook. Of particular interest are the articles that discuss Facebook as a business networking tool. Not only are young professionals continuing the networking that they began when using Facebook in college, but many people in older age groups are also joining Facebook. A search on the Business Week website pulls up fifteen pages of content dating back to 2005. You can find the list of articles, sorted by date, here; and this is barely a drop in the bucket compared to all of the articles available in other publications. Just in the past two months I have read, in print publications, several articles concerning Facebook, including: Wired magazine, MIT's Technology Review, and Newsweek. These are just a few examples out of many and the number of articles found published on the web far outnumber these. Quite a few of these concern the negative repurcussions of some Facebook content. For example, the colleges who have used photos on Facebook to locate and then charge underage drinkers, like Brad Davis at Emory or students who are rejected for internships as a result of Facebook content. As business writing is very much concerned with ethos, I'd like for you to consider your Facebook entries in the context of both your present and future.
I have a couple of questions that I'd like the class to respond to. Many of you have commented in your reading responses that the readings helped you determine site credibility and I think that sharing some specifics will be helpful: How did these readings help you specifically in choosing sources for your white paper? Were there sites that you found that you ended up discarding because they didn't meet credibility requirements? Could you provide some examples?
Here is our final draft of our project.
Here is our FINAL FINAL presentation!
The class was cancelled this Tuesday. We did the evalution for Project three on Thursday's class. And we also sign a contract which allows MLS to post and use our project work. There are not many thing we can do currently while waiting for the response from Peg. We probably can hear something from Peg and do some modifications to our final project and really wrap it up at the final week.
Time goes by really quickly. Here is another end of semester coming... Hope everyone can do great at the final week and keep warm in this cold weather :)
Attached is the lastest (as of 11/29/07) version of Project 3 multimedia presentation.
This week each group member looked over their slides and corrected any formatting or content recommended by the class from the presentation. Ashley fixed the slides over the weekend. Next, each member looked over the slides, and again ,through email, we corected any mistakes. Then, we sent our corrections to Blake who turned in the final draft. This week we did not have class Tuesday, and on Thursday, we are writing peer evaluations and a final project log, while we wait for Peg's feedback comments on our presentation.
Our group finished revising all our powerpoint slides. After showing the slides to the class and getting feedback we were able to perfect our slides. We then individually worked on our portion of the slides and put everything together. After much research and revising I feel our group put together and nice presentation.
We've completely finished our final project and our peer evaluations. We had some trouble with finding images, but it came out okay. We all worked hard on the project so I'm glad it is over. I feel like if we had more time we could have worked a lot more on our presentation, with regards to more slides, more information, more pictures. We did the best we could with the time we had!
Last week our group did not meet due to Thanksgiving. Missy summitted our multimedia project for us last Tuesday. This week we did not meet on Tuesday but today we found out that we are basically done. We are meeting next week to make any changes that need to be done to our powerpoint. Today we are doing our peer evaluations and that pretty much sums it up.
