I feel good about what we accomplished this week. Despite the set backs we faced, we still were able put together a good draft presentation. Initially, Peg wanted to use MediaFrame, but MediaFrame turned out to be unusable (it wouldn't download and links in the tutorial and manual were broken), so Cat allowed us to change the topic of our presentation to YouTube. Nick covered the setup and registration process, Ranan covered the features of YouTube, I covered the uploading process, and Jared made an introduction and compiled all of our individual sections. This week we were informed of Peg's choice - MediaFrame. This took me by surprise because the recommendation we made in the paper was for YouTube Nonprofit. It's free, more user friendly, and spreads awareness for your cause. This is also the stance one of our sources, Ken Goldstein, author of The Nonprofit Consultant Blog, took on the subject. Anyway, the deeper we delve into the workings of MediaFrame, the more I wish Peg had chosen something else. None of us has had success downloading the software, and Cat informed us that it's because the ITAP computers wouldn't let us download
Got a lot done this week. We all did our individual parts and met Wednesday at 7pm for about 1 hour to put it all together. Ranan wrote the executive summary, Jared wrote on MediaFrame, Nick wrote on FlowPlayer, and I wrote on YouTube, CharityDocs.org, and DoGooder.tv. The next step is to revise the draft a bit for Thurday - we plan to meet Tuesday evening. This will involve implementing recommendations made by our peer reviewers, adding images to the document, formatting the document to make it more presentable, and trimming the document down to 1800-2100 words.
