This is our final draft.......for now
Team WoW spent a good day on Saturday working on the media presentation. The day did not start out well though. We had decided earlier in the week that we wouldn't use videos taken from Second Life and incorporate them into our presentation. On Saturday morning when we went to the lab we found out that the Mac's did not work that day. The HP that they gave us instead did not have the programs that we needed to make our PowerPoint into a movie. W
So, as usual for this group, Murphy's Law is in full effect. If it could have gone wrong, IT DID! First of all the laptop Macs in Hichs were not working. Second of all the frame rate of our computers was not good enough to support taking videos within second life to use as tutorials. Ergo, all our creative ideas that we had for our project were flushed down the drain. So, the group sucked up the dissapointment, gathered our thoughts and met in Krannert this weekend, and finished our entire powerpoint project.
This week we decided that we were not going to incorperate video into our presentation because of our complications with the Mac computers. The lab in Hicks did not have any Mac laptops available and the other laptops would not work. We came up with some other ideas and got together on Saturday to work on our final powerpoint presentation. We all worked on the presentation for 10am to 5pm and completed the presentation. My group worked great together making slides and getting screen shots within Second Life. I think our presentation looks professional and is very informative.
Here is our final powerpoint.
Well, team WoW keeps moving along. I am not sure what we are moving towards but we are making good progress. I myself spent three of the last seven days last week, out of town and on job interviews. I wrote my last project log from a four-star hotel room in Chicago and have spent this weekend playing catch-up on schoolwork.
For the multimedia presentation we have decided to do a video with powerpoint incorperated into it. Our tutorial is going to be focusing on how to get Second Life and how to become a productive member.
I found the old reading assignment “Death by Power Point” to be very helpful in constructing our business plan (http://engl420fa07.rhetoricat.com/node/672). This power point presentation shows exactly what to do and what not to do when it comes to giving an effective presentation. I really agreed with the slides (12 – 36).
